Hageshi has been a member of the Kirigakure Academy since he was young, about the age of five. Since that period of time was concerning for his skill level, his parents would ensure that he went into the academy with the ability to fight on a basic level. Hageshi, for as long as anyone can remember, had been a screw-up when it came to both Ninjutsu, and Genjutsu. The boy had an aptitude for Taijutsu, but beyond that; he was useless. He failed at molding chakra in an accurate manner, providing failure in combative use of chakra. Hageshi has been in the academy, perfecting his ability to use taijutsu since his instructors told him that he will have no choice but to do so.
Hageshi's life revolved around Taijutsu, he spent time away from others to continue practicing, his actual combat skills lacked, however he would spar among the other students, and generally come out the victor. It began to become a question of whether he was just lazy, or unfocused. Neither proved to be true, Hageshi was simply a let-down when it came to his chakra molding skills. He seemed to have to rely on his physical finesse in order to get the job done, or simply bow out in general. Due to this realization, he seemed to practice in secluded areas, perfecting his own unique style of taijutsu, unpredictable, and explosive. That was the only way he'd be able to get by, providing large amounts of damage in a quick burst, as to avoid being killed.
So far, Hageshi waits to prove his worth as a Shinobi, to finally ascend ranks into being a Genin.
Hageshi's waiting game had begun to strain. He was growing tired of seeing the same faces, he wanted to explore, wanted the life of a normal Shinobi. This was also the fated day that he met a like-minded Kirigakure citizen whom was also colorfully dressed. He started to refer to her as the 'Lady in Plum', that is until after he heard her name enough for it to cement; 'Danao', or simply; 'Ao'. Ao had introduced herself long before Hageshi remembered her name, but non-the-less, it took a bit. Ao had offered to get one of her friends to teach Hageshi what he needed to know to graduate, like any good; knowledge hunting student, Hage accepted. More than anything, Hage wanted to be able to graduate from the academy. He never doubted his ability in combat, until he ended up being taken on a mission to a foreign land. Finally, part of his wish was coming true, he was able to leave the academy, even if just for a day. So, under the guidance of Ao, her friend Shun, and a rather grump Shark-dude, Hage seemed content.
Once they finally reached the Kazekage's Mansion, Hage's nerves seemed to escalate. Not only was he in a foreign country, but he was surrounded by shinobi he'd never seen, or heard of before. The thought of it was both exciting, and frightening. He ended up going with the entire group, over ten shinobi, to the Bear Country, where a clan of bandits was thought to be attacking Kusagakure. Needless to say, Hage wasn't much help. He lasted he amount of time necessary, but spent most of it staying out of the way. So much so, that he couldn't even remember if there was actual combat or not. Having seen the mission out to it's end, Hage traveled back to Kirigakure with Ao, Shun, and the angry Sharkman; named "Yashanny", and went right back into his self-inflicted torture of Taijutsu training. He was determined, now more than ever, to become stronger. His inability to help truly had a strong effect on his resolve.
During a most boring day of taijutsu training, and shadow-sparring; Shun appeared out of nowhere near Hageshi, and startled him into falling. Shun offered to train Hageshi a bit, to prepare him to take the genin exams, Hage offered the knowledge that he was barely capable of performing any ninjutsu, and shun made him regret imparting that knowledge. He wrapped him up with the threads of his body, and told Hage how to escape. And so, Hage laid, and did such. Shortly after they began, Yashanny, and his Cousin; Mayuko, joined them. Mayuko, and Hage performed the Rope Escape Technique before Shun, and laid helplessly for moments. Mayuko succeeded much sooner than Hage, and Hage even needed the assistance of Shun's medical ninjutsu in order to even learn it. One he finally completed the task, Shun ha Hage line up to learn a new trick. A Taijutsu move referred to as; 'Swift Kick'.
Oddly, though the technique was C-Ranked, Hage had an easier time learning this one, than before. HAge enjoyed this type of training, and the physical reward that came with it. Seemed that Hage was capable of somethings after all. Though, Shun still had to help him by giving a special kind of pill to boost Hage's Chakra back to normal levels. After a grueling training session, Hage walked away with two new techniques that he could show off. Not too long after this session, Hage was forced into a fight with te Hoshigake Kin. He seemed to be a bit out-matched, but thanks to a technique, and the watchful eye of Shun, he managed to survive. This time. He was growing, finally. Able to come into his shinobi abilities with confidence!
An odd, and rainy night befell the next scene for Hage's life. He found himself in the Academy, shadow-sparring when a sudden burst of curiousity hit him. He had heard o a bar, on the Eastern end of the village, something he'd of never thought of, if his current instructor; Shun, hadn't been involved. Hage seemed to take a break from his self-inflicted torture for just this night. He'd find his way to the Green Dragon, where he found both Shun, and Danao. After engaging in conversation with the two, a snide comment, and bit of self-pity seemed to find Hage in the middle of the Dragon's pit. Hage was instructed, no, forced to learn another helpful technique from his semi-sadistic teacher.
Hage did his best, and this time it paid off in a timely manner. Hage would seem to be performing at a better rate than he had during his first session of training with the sadistic Hunter-Nin. Hage even seemed to impress him a bit, so he thought. The session was physically, and mentally straining. Shun had decided to spice things up by creating bunshin, and using specific Suiton techniques to throw Hage's concentration off, however! Hage seemed to be on top of it for a majority of the session. And so, he walked away from the Green Dragon with another Academy technique, and elevated level of self-worth under his belt.
Over the past few weeks, Hage has been taught by three people, an instructor at the academy, his favorite; "Shun", and a foreigner. His favorite sessions will always be with Shun. He was learning Wall Walking this day, and as extra incentive towards victory, Shun created a dragon of flames to catch Hage every time he fell, needless to say he sustained some major burns, and bruises, possibly a bruised rib, or two.
Hage had his final set of lessons over the past few days, first coming from a female instructor whom taught him how to use Kai by giving him a realistic combat situation. Needless to say; Hage's never-ending defiance exhausted the other student, and allowed him to get out of the genjutsu. His final technique, the Substitution technique, was taught by none other than, the Headmaster himself. Hage was so inspired to learn, that he had the technique down in just eight tries. Truly, the presence of the headmaster had been -that- helpful.
This day was the day Hage had been waiting for. All of the Academy students that were currently enrolled in the instruction, were brought to the Stadium, and told to kill each other. And so, after a decently lengthy fight, Hage zooming around people with his speed, and precise strikes, and the two other students that survived, they reached a stand-off. They knew that they were the strongest ones there, so it was going to be tough to knock each other down from where they were. That is exactly when the Mizukage stopped them, and announced their graduation. It was a joyous day, Hage finally got to be himself, and fight like he'd wanted to for so long. Hage now dons a forehead protector around his right bicep, and keeps it closely in contact with his clothes.
